My Deepest sympathies to the Reed Family. Joe was my hero in so many ways. He was my teacher, my mentor, my friend. Having taught me to fish, enjoy the outdoors, live life to its fullest, and be a good person, Joe meant so much to me, I find it difficult to express my love and sincere loss of his presence. He'll remain my friend for the rest of my life. Having spent so many fishing trips with him, discussing his experiences in WWII, and recently visiting Normandy within the last week, visiting the American Cemetery at Omaha Beach, the world has lost one of the finest men I've ever met. My heart goes out to all of you.

Hap was a true American hero. He gave so much, and expected nothing in return. I am truely sorry for your loss. I know words may never bring you true comfort in this troubling time, but I know Hap is finally at peace and is still watching over all of us. He made me feel like one of the family and I will always be proud to say,"I knew Joe Reed".
