
Columbus- Fred F. Schwarzenberg, 92, formerly of Poland, died Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at the Sanctuary at Tuttle Crossing in Dublin.
Mr. Schwarzenberg was born February 6, 1918 in Cleveland, a son of Joseph and Emma Miller Schwarzenberg. He was raised in Wayne, Ohio and moved to the Youngstown area in 1945 until moving to Columbus in 2007 to live with his daughter.
He was a graduate of Wayne High School and attended Fenn College, which is now Cleveland State. He was a United States Army Air Corps Veteran proudly serving during World War II. Mr. Schwarzenberg served in the African and European Theatres as a Tech Sergeant in the 15th Photo Reconnaissance Squadron and flew 56 missions over Germany.
Mr. Schwarzenberg was co-owner of International Dies Incorporated where he worked as machinist, retiring in 1978 after 30 years. He also co-owned five Sveden House Restaurants. In retirement, he repaired and built clocks and was known as the "Clock Doctor."
He was a former member of the Evangel Baptist Church in Boardman.
His wife, the former Dorothy J. Johnston, whom he married May 15, 1942, died September 9, 1998. Mr. Schwarzenberg leaves his daughter, Sandra (Ray) Harper of Columbus; sister, Mildred Betts of Andover; three grandchildren, Lori (David) Vaughan of Indianapolis, Shari (Jeremy) McMullen of Dayton, and John (Teresa) Harper of Marietta, Georgia; nine great-grandchildren, Rachel, Josh, Caleb, Jonathan, Kaleigh, Emma, Titus, Rebekah, and Leah; a sister-in-law, Ruth Schwarzenberg of Mentor; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, George and Robert Schwarzenberg; and two sisters, Helen McMillen and Ruth Schwarzenberg.
Services will be held Saturday at noon at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home in Poland. Interment will follow at Lake Park Cemetery.
Family and friends will be received Friday from 4-7 p.m. and Saturday from 11-11:45 a.m. at the funeral home.
